Overview
Strategy versions let your organization plan ahead for the next strategy cycle without disrupting the current one. Each version contains a complete copy of your one-pager hierarchy — same teams, same structure — so you can start working on next year's strategy while the current one remains active.
How versions work
Your organization always has one active version, which everyone sees by default. When you create a new version, it starts as inactive and is cloned from the active strategy.
By default, each cloned one-pager keeps the same team name, full content, owners, tags, and cascade relationships. Status is reset to "Not started" so teams can begin fresh planning. Comments and history are not copied. You can customise what gets cloned using the Cloning Options described below.
Managing versions
Enterprise admins manage strategy versions from the Strategy Versions tab in the organization admin panel.
Creating a new version
- Go to the organization admin panel
- Click the Strategy Versions tab
- Click New Version
- Enter a name (e.g. "Strategy 2027")
- Select the Start and End months for the strategy period
- Optionally, adjust the Cloning Options (see below)
- Click Create
The system clones the active strategy into the new version according to your chosen options.
Cloning options
When creating a new version, the Cloning Options section lets you control which levels are included and how much content is carried over. For each level you can:
- Include or exclude it from the new version. Excluding a level also excludes all levels below it. Level 0 is always included.
- Toggle content — choose between cloning the full content or creating blank one-pagers with only their title and settings. Disabling content also disables it for all levels below.
Activating a version
Only one version can be active at a time. To switch which version is active:
- In the Strategy Versions tab, find the version you want to activate
- Click Activate
- Confirm the action
All users will see the newly activated version by default.
Renaming a version
- Click Edit next to the version
- Update the name
- Click Save
Archiving a version
Archiving makes a version fully read-only. One-pagers, propagations, comments, and ratings within an archived version can no longer be edited.
- In the Strategy Versions tab, find the version you want to archive
- Click Archive
- Confirm the action
The active version cannot be archived — activate a different version first. Archived versions show an "Archived" badge in both the admin tab and the version switcher.
To restore editing, click Unarchive on an archived version.
Deleting a version
- Click Delete next to the version
- Confirm the action
The active version cannot be deleted — activate a different version first. Archived versions can be deleted without unarchiving first. Deleting a version permanently removes all its one-pagers.
Switching between versions
A version switcher dropdown appears at the top of the one-pager list, show, and edit views. The active version is marked with a green "Active" badge, and archived versions show an "Archived" badge.
When you switch versions while viewing a specific one-pager, the system automatically navigates to the corresponding one-pager in the target version. A warning banner appears when viewing an inactive version. One-pagers in archived versions open in read-only mode.
